We had so much fun at our first birthday party! Thank you to every one who came to spend it with us! We just had a very simple BBQ get together nothing special, nothing fancy...he's ONE for pete's sake.

- Moved bath time to 7:30 and bedtime to 8. Now we're sleepin' in til 630-7am! Wooo!
- Nap: 11am-1(or 2pm)
- 4 teeth!!!! (My he more teeth he gets the harder it gets! First tooth was nothin' from there on out he's been progressively more fussy with each one.)
- 11.5 months: FINALLY sleeping through the night for sure.
- Pointing. We learned to point at the Zoo!
- Dr. Berger says we're doing great! Even ahead of the norm on things like WALKING! 😁
- Trying to get in a couple swim lessons per week in the hot tub. Since we're a giant fussy-pants these days we don't get much accomplished.
Weaning & Solids:
Taking it ultra slow with weaning. Hoping to be done in July so I can FINALLY leave him over night with someone or even have any one but me put him to bed. NOT looking forward to weaning the nap/bed time feedings though so those will be the absolute last to go.
5/12 - dropped to 2.5 feedings/day
(Dropped after nap feeding. Next it'll be 1/2 bedtime feeding)
5/26 - dropped to 2 feedings/day
(Both sides before breakfast, 1 side before nap, 1 side before bed (Next drop 1/2 morning feeding)
Started him on a little bit of yogurt. Diaper explosion! No more dairy. I might try home made almond milk w/ a touch of cinnamon before bed when we eventually are weaned. IF he needs something at that point. I don't really know how it's going to be. We've also added a serving of grains per day. Usually I like to offer this at dinner time to make sure he's nice and full for bed time.
The new thing is bread or any type of bread, baked like substance. He'll B-line for it so we offer protein first then fruit/veg, THEN bread. Or, since he recently started hating eggs, I'll make a super nutrient dense mug muffin for him that goes like this (you're taking notes of course) --
J's Mug Muffin
Throw all of the following into a mug or small dish:
Throw all of the following into a mug or small dish:
1 egg, 2T almond meal, 1/2t baking powder, 1-2T whey protein, dash of vanilla, 1/2 mashed banana (or any mashed fruit really...) Stir it all up adding 1-2T of water. Pop it in the microwave for 2 min, cool and done! This is similar to the one I make for myself but I use only whey protein instead of almond meal. You can also make this batter into pancakes...waffles...etc.
Also insanely delicious and a favorite of Jaxen's is
Green Apple Sauce:
You saute some spinach in coconut oil (I've also added broccoli and/or kale), throw it in a food processor then you throw in some unsweetened applesauce in with it, blend it up and BAM!

He also loves coconut milk/fruit smoothies which of course we fortify with a handful of raw spinach as well. At first glance you might think, "EWW YUCK!" but you actually can't taste the spinach at all.
Warm Almond Milk:
4oz almond milk (unsweet vanilla)
1/2t vanilla powder
1T whey protein
Pinch o' cinnamon
Shake to mix.
Microwave for 30s max.
Shake again.
