Month Ten: I Remember When...

28" tall                        18 lbs 9 oz
...I saw your feet for the first time. There you were pink and kickin' in our NICU suite, under the heating lamp while the nurses busy-buzzed all around you doing whatever nurses do. I've never seen cuter feet. Ever! It's important to hang onto these memories as they fade with every month. (But not enough to trick me into doing it again anytime soon!)

I can't believe ONE YEAR is just around the corner! [Giant *sigh* of relief.] We're just planning on throwing a little party at the house probably that Sunday the 25th. Saaaay...a little BBQ & cake from 2-5pm. If you need some gift ideas, click here for the amazon list. Even if you don't order anything off of it, it will give you a good idea of things he needs. We have absolutely no clothing or jammies for 12-18 months. Just remember that 12 month stuff will need to by summery and 18+ will need to be wintery.

Los Caballeros Dude Ranch Trip:
The trip out went great! He was sooo excited to seen all the new people and places! Only got 3, 30 min naps that day but he held it together like a champ. The week was fun with lots of new experiences! Desert hikes, cook outs, playing with his cousins Mila, Nico & Aubrey and just plain old hanging out by the pool with everyone. He especially LOVED that Ben didn't have to go off to work every day! This guy just LOVES his daddy! He literally was the happiest baby in the universe. I had big plans to start his swimming lessons on this trip but the pool was so cold he screamed BOTH times we tried to get in due to the fact that the water was 79 degrees. (When I taught lessons it was 88.) It was really great to be with everyone and we are so thankful that GG put that trip together. The way home was a little difficult as the stewardess woke him up 10sec after I finally got him to stop crying and nurse to sleep. He did ok after that but it would have been nicer to have a nap. Since we got home, he's transitioned easily with no major set backs. Another giant *sigh* of relief.

10 Month Updates:
  • Nap time 3-4 hours after waking. Pretty much down to one 2-3hr nap for the last 2 months or so...
  • SLEPT FOR 11 HOURS STRAIGHT FOR MY B'DAY! YAY! BEST PRESENT EVER! Now, if only I could have been soundly sleeping that whole time...
  • Still working on those bottom teeth. Perhaps we have some new ones coming as we've been extra drooly lately.
  • So far even though we don't like cold pools, Jaxen and I have been practicing our water safety & survival skills in the bath tub. I can almost take my hands away when he's back floating and this month we introduced pouring water over his head & breath holding which he took to well. No tears! We'll work on monkey walking on the edge of the pool when we get to FL.
  • Came down with some coughing sickness about a week and a half ago which ruined our good stretch of sleeping.
  • New tricks! [video]
  • Playing w/ Nico [video]
  • Raspberries with daddy [video]
  • Cousins playing @ the ranch [video]
  • Baby cousins playing in the grass [video]
  • Ranch photos here!
  • Other photos here!
Next stop....Gma's FL house!!!
Hope your pool is warm enough!

Month Nine: It's Teething Time!

18lbs 9 oz.         28" tall

9 month updates:

  • Check in with dr B! All is well!
  • Back crawling with purposeful direction...still not interested in traditional methods. However, in the last couple of days J has discovered pulling up on tables and couches n' things! Haven't quite mastered it but soon...
  • From here to there and there to here funny things are everywhere! [video]
  • Poop face video
  • Nap time 3 hours after waking.
  • Consistently sleeping through the night (just feeding once around 4am) until that second tooth came along. Then we had some troubled days followed by the worst night ever with a 101 degree fever and the crying in pain every 30 min/hour. It was almost unbearable knowing there wasn't too much I could do to help. I brought him into bed with us for the first time in a really long time but it seemed not to help. I'm hoping that it at least gave him some comforting reassurance.
  • Slowly started the weaning process...we were down to nursing 3-4x in a 24 hour period, a 50% reduction but this teething thing has killed his appetite for solids and now we are back to 5-6x.

  • Mastered the 360 roll.
  • Click here for more photos! (scroll down for the newer ones!)
So.....it seems like we're the same baby......

Last weekend Gma Sylvia and Gpa Paul came to visit! Ben & I got to climb together one day and go snowboarding at Eldora the next. It felt like old times again! Jaxen did very well all day long with Gma while we were snowboarding and even took a 3 hour nap. Thanks again for all your help. It couldn't have come at a better time. The fussy teething thing was really starting to get to me. Luckily he's over it and my happy lil' guy is back.

Looking forward to our trip to Arizona! First out-of-utero plane ride!
